CRAWLING MY WAY BACK FROM THE GREAT DARK
I think I found Ethel at a real low point in my being. It was around a time that I had lost everything -- or so I thought, really. It was around August, the events leading up to it happened in the middle of March, however. I started upon Ptolomea, and it embodied some feral screaming I had stuck in the back of my throat, feeding off the acid in my stomach and unrelenting. It was the first thing I had heard that felt as though it put to words what it felt to rot from the inside out, and the more I listened to that song on repeat, I could see the black lines of mold seeping out through my limbs, circling a knot I had in my veins on my inner left arm, almost caressing it.
A storyteller who transforms pain into art, Ethel Cain creates worlds where darkness and light coexist. Her work is a testament to the power of vulnerability and the beauty found in the shadows.
"I'm just trying to make something beautiful out of something ugly."
